| Armoy 'Race of Legends' was
next on the agenda and after a busy ten
days changing the engine in the CSC R6
Yamaha, rebuilding the DM#71RRSC 250cc
Honda after it had seized, giving the
Strangford Hioliday Park GSXR1000 Suzuki
a good check over and changing the oil
in the CMS ER6 Kawasaki, Davy was ready
to go come friday practice. |

Practice started well as he claimed
12th on the CSC R6 and 10th on the Strangford
Holiday Park Suzuki, but then the problems
started, after cruising round for four
laps to run in the new engine parts on
the DM#71RRSC Honda he went for it on
lap five but coming out of the final road
ends she seized again and was in an unfamiliar
9th place on the grid. Things seemed to
pick up in the Supertwin practice as Davy
was 6th heading into the last few minutes
of the session, but then bang and the
engine let go putting a rod out through
the front, putting Davy out of saturdays
race.
Race Day and once again it was rain that
greeted the paddock and at times it was
torrential so Davy chose not to ride in
what he felt was dangerous conditions,
however the rain did stop later in the
day and he did get out on the 250cc Honda
and nursed it to the chequered flag in
4th having been down in seventh early
on in the race.
Speaking later Davy said; "This
weather is doing my head in and today
was horrendous and i do believe at times
with the torrential showers it was dangerous
and everyone was lucky to get away with
it. The way the weather is going i will
have to get my 'wet weather mojo back'
as soon as possible. The mechanical problems
over the weekend didn't help, but at least
the R6 was going a bit better with the
new engine; the old engine was putting
out less power than a standard bike so
it was definiltely ready for a rest. It
was not nice phoning Tony (Morris) about
the 650 as it totally wrecked itself,
but he was okay and will be over before
the Ulster with a replacemnet engine,
it was a real pity as the bike was going
well. Its now on to Dundrod, were hopefully
the weather and gremlins will be kinder
to us." |
