| It was the first
trip South to the Skerries 100 Road Races
after a week off and everyone had their
fingers crossed for some decent weather.
Well on Friday we did not get that wish
as it rained all day, making the circuit
treacherous and the paddock a quagmire.
The organisers after a few hold ups did
get five laps of controlled practice run
for all riders although it is of little
use as racing lines are completely diffrent,
but it is the same for everyone. |

Saturday and we woke to
sunshine and by the time racing started
the roads were pretty much dry. Davy was
out first on the Strangford Holiday Park
Suzuki, but it was short lived as the
front guard bracket broke on the opening
lap forcing Davy to retire. Things picked
up in the 250cc Junior Race as a good
start saw Davy lead early on, but then
William (Dunlop) hit the front. Davy was
able to hold on until the latter part
of the race when the wee bike went off
and he thought about retiring, but with
a ten second cushion he nursed it to the
flag to claim second. Immediately he was
out on the CSC Racing R6 Yamaha and an
inspired ride from Group C saw Davy finish
7th despite passing quite a few slower
riders and a slowing R6.
There was a short break before the Supertwin
Race, but Davy was not confident as the
team had still not resolved the handling
issues with the CMS ER6 Kawasaki. However
from a solid start he manged to get the
bike home in a creditable sixth place
just behind the leading championship contenders.
The Grand Final was his last race of the
day and from the B Group this time he
managed to bring the Strangford Holiday
Park Suzuki across the finish line in
sixth. |

Speaking later Davy commented;
"Its been another long weekend,
but a least this week it dried up for
race day and we got on track and get some
decent results. It all started with the
bracket breaking on the Superbike but
at least it improved after that and to
come away with four top eight finishes
restores a bit of my confidence after
a lean spell since the TT.
I love riding the Suzuki and although
it was a good result in the Grand Final
it could have been better had the grid
allocations been done right, but i will
say no more about that. The 250 Honda
going off in the last half of the race
is a worry as i won't have time to look
at before Walderstown as i am away to
the Isle of Man in the morning. The Supertwin
still needs work as it is not handling
well at all and we are all scratching
our heads as to how to go with it. Its
frustrating as we have not really seen
what it is capable off as i cannot ride
it hard, as for the R6 it is a lovely
bike to ride and i can ride it hard to
make up for its lack of straight line
speed. Thanks to my sponsors and everyone
who helped and worked hard this weekend
to make it possible."
