There was disappointment in Wednesday’s second Supersport TT with retirement at the end of the first lap. A solid finish in Mondays opening race gave Davy and the team hope of and even better finish, but it was not to be. The CSC R6 Yamaha on the delayed start did not feel right from the off and Davy was having to ride hard to get the best out of it, so much so that he had to take a trip up the slip road at Ballacraine. He did re-join , but as the lap went on the Yamaha felt like it was losing power and on safety grounds Davy decided to retire at the pits after a lap at 115mph.

After the race he did get two more laps practice in for Fridays Race’s, he completed a lap at 116mph on the Strangford Holiday Park Suzuki, but the quick shifter still not working and he did a lap at 105mph on the CMS ER6 Kawasaki, but the changes made had still not sorted the handling issues.

A frustrated Davy speaking later; “It’s been a very long day and a disappointing one as things did not go to plan. The R6 did not feel right from I left the line and I was pushing hard to try and keep my lap time up and I made a slight mistake at Ballacraine. Then when it felt even weaker on the second half of the lap UP over the mountain I decided that something was not right and retired before rather than do some serious damage. We will take it to the dyno tomorrow (Thursday) to see if we can get to the bottom of the problem before the Mid-Antrim next week.”

“The practice laps were just as frustrating, with the quick shifter on the Superbike and front end handling issues on the Supertwin causing major problems. Hopefully we can sort the Superbike on the dyno on Thursday and we will have to have another think about what to do with the ER6. I just hope the weather forecast is wrong so that I can get a good run on both.”
