Davy's 2012 TT experience
continued to improve as he claimed an
impressive 15th place in the opening race
of the week, the Superbike TT. Having
made some adjustments to the Strangford
Holiday Park Suzuki the team had hoped
to test them in Fridays final practice
session and as it did not happen the opening
couple of laps were to be the test of
the adjustments.
Davy's fastest lap of the TT 2012 to
date at 123.739mph on the opening lap
meant he was 19th after thirty seven and
three quarter miles. On lap two he went
even faster and was only four seconds
outside his best ever lap time at 18 min
10.69 sec and a speed of 124.534mph, he
was also twelfth quickest through the
sulby speed tray at 179.4mph and was up
to 14th place. However during his pit
stop he was too fast going out of pit
lane and was given a 30 second penalty
for speeding, this dropped him to 17th.
However during his third lap he was going
well and at the end of the lap had worked
his way back up to 15th. He completed
two more laps at over 124mph and another
at over 118mph including a solid pitstop
and brought the Suzuki home in 15th at
an average speed over 121mph. It could
have been even better on the final lap,
only for the quick shifter to break causing
Davy to lose valuable seconds in every
sector.

Davy commented later; “It
was an enjoyable race although i am a
bit sore now especially between the shoulders.
Everything went well and other than the
quick shifter breaking on the final lap
the Strangford Holiday Park Suzuki never
missed a beat.”
"The adjustments we made helped
and i was really comfortable on the bike
and after a steady start i was able to
get in some decent lap times and i am
confident that if the weather stays good
for the Senior on friday i can better
my best ever time and lap at maybe 126/127mph."
"I have decided not to go out
in the practice session after the Sidecar
Race as it would have to be on the R6
and we can't learn anything more and we
would just be putting forty miles on it
for nothing. So its a case of relaxing
and looking forward to Monday." |
