| The season started for Davy
Morgan Racing at Scarborough and the Ian
Watson Spring Cup meeting so Davy, Robert,
Jim and Maurice headed to the east coast
of England with the D&GW/DM#71RRSC
250cc Honda and CSC Racing R6 Yamaha on
board. The CMS ER6 Kawasaki Supertwin
and Tony was to meet them there so it
was going to be a busy day. |

In freezing cold (complete with hailstones)
and wet conditions practice and qualifying
was difficult enough although Davy did
work hard to get both the ER6 Kawasaki
and 250 Honda on the second row of the
grid, but a big moment on the R6 Yamaha
meant that he would start at the back
of the grid in that one.
Racing was eventful to say the least,
Davy was too keen to get the D&GW/DM#71RRSC
250cc Honda of the line and damaged the
clutch which meant retirement at the end
of the opening lap. It was much better
in the first Supersport Leg as he fought
through from the back of the grid to finish
sixth on the CSC Racing Yamaha and lap
only 0.6 second off the fastest lap of
the race. The CMS ER6 Supertwin was feeling
good and again lap times were good, but
with a small gearbox problem Davy decided
to retire at the end of the third lap
while lying fourth to protect the machine.
With two bikes out of action and the
meeting running late due to weather delays
the team decided they were not going to
achieve anything more, so it was decided
to pack up and head down the road for
the boat, collecting a set of the new
Scott Leathers along the way.

Speaking on his return home Davy commented:
“It was a bit frustrating with
the weather and breakdowns, but I did
get a good run on all three bikes during
the day so I am happy enough. I completely
rebuilt the 250 over the winter, but did
not replace the clutch as it looked okay,
but I knew I was in trouble off the start.
I was really pleased with how the CSC
Yamaha was going and I really enjoyed
the run. The ER6 would not change cleanly
between 1st and 2nd gears so I decided
not to risk damaging it and let Tony get
it sorted for Cookstown. We collected
one of our new set of leathers from Scott
on the way home so we are now ready and
looking forward to Cookstown.
Thanks to everyone who sponsoring
and supporting in 2012, it is very much
appreciated and I just hope I can give
you all something to cheer about. See
you at Cookstown.” |
