Disappointment as Mid-Antrim Cancelled (06 Aug 11)

The Mid-Antrim 150 was next on the agenda, but it was to be a short weekend as oil and diesel was allegedly poured on the County Antrim overnight resulting in the races having to be cancelled for safety reasons. Practice ran well on Friday, but then the vandalism of the track meant that racing had to be cancelled on Saturday.

In practice Davy had a solid evening in tricky conditions as the back road was really greasy. First up was the Open Session on the Strangford Holiday Park / Leisure Services Suzuki and despite a few slides Davy was fifth fastest and on the second row for Saturdays Race. The Junior 250cc Session was cut short when the clock bracket broke on the DM#71RRSC Honda and so only one flying lap was completed although Davy was still on the front row in second place. His final outing was on the CSC Branson R6 Yamaha and after five solid laps he ended up sixth quickest and looking forward to Saturdays racing.

A disappointed Davy said afterwards, "What a disaster, i feel for everyone concerned and hope that whoever was behind this is prosecuted to the full extent of the law as it could have caused a serious accident to the public never mind a rider during racing. It was the right decision to call it off, as it was just too dangerous as the oil was placed in exactly the right places to affect racing."

"On the racing front I was not really looking forward to practice on friday as the back road in around the farm was really greasy, but when i got going i really enjoyed it and by the end of the evening was having fun. The opening session on the Suzuki was interesting as i had only slick tryres and she was doing a bit of sliding around the back, but the rest of the circuit was too dry for wets. I only got one flying lap on the 250 Honda, but was confident i could go a lot quicker come race day. The Supersport session was good fun as the R6 Yamaha is nice to ride around here. I was looking forward to Saturday, but it was not to be so we move on the Ulster and hope for better things."
