With dry and warm conditions
it was a perfect weekend for Davy Morgan
at Armoy on his Supporters Club backed
250cc Honda as he claimed pole position,
race win and record lap and this supported
up by more solid performances on the Strangford
Holiday Park/Leisure Services Suzuki and
CSC Branson R6 Yamaha giving him four
finishes from four starts at the popular
County Antrim circuit.

With Davy suffering from
a heavy cold and suffering a bit, the
aim in practice was just to qualify for
the A Group in all races and this was
exactly what Davy did as he put the DM#71RRSC
250cc Honda on pole position, the CSC
Branson R6 Yamaha in seventh and for both
the Open Race and Race of Legends he was
eighth on the Strangford Holiday Park/Leisure
Services Suzuki and so a good night’s
sleep was earned.
Race Day and first up for Davy was the
Supersport 600cc Race and it was a good
performance holding off the close attentions
of Adrian Archibald throughout to bring
the CSC Branson Yamaha home in seventh
in the very competitive field. In the
Open Race on the Strangford Holiday Park/Leisure
Services GSXR1000 Suzuki Davy made another
good start from the third row and found
himself in a battle for fifth with Burrows,
Archibald, Mercer and W.Dunlop, but as
he pushed Davy out-braked himself in to
Armoy village and by the time he had re-joined
he had dropped to eleventh.

Despite his best efforts
he could not improve on this at the finish
as the pace was frantic in what was probably
the most competitive race at National
Level all year.
The 250cc Junior Race was next and it
was a slow start and fifth in to the chicane,
but by the end of the opening lap Davy
led from William Dunlop. Next time around
Dunlop led, and these two were well pulling
well clear of the rest before Davy set
a new lap record to retake the lead. Dunlop
then hit problems and Davy nursed the
little Honda home to claim the win with
over 23 seconds to spare.
In his final race the “Race of
Legends” it was another good start
and at the end of the opening lap he was
in seventh place. Despite feeling tired
he continued to lap consistently quicker
than he had done in 2010 and with the
retirement of Ryan Farquhar he brought
the Strangford Holiday Park/Leisure Services
Suzuki home in an impressive sixth place.
Speaking afterwards an exhausted Davy
commented, “That was a tough
day, and I am shattered now. I did not
expect it to go so well as I was feeling
a bit under the weather so I am pleased
to get the 250 win although it was a bit
weird. I was having an enjoyable scrap
with William (Dunlop) and then he was
gone and I did not know where everyone
was, but I will not complain. The CSC
Branson R6 with the engine built on remains
from the TT is just not quick enough so
I was happy enough with my lap times and
finish. The Strangford Holiday Park/Leisure
Services Suzuki was going well and I lapped
quicker than last year, although I was
disappointed with myself in the Open Race
as the mistake cost me what would have
probably been, another top ten finish.
I was not going to ride in the Race of
Legends as I was beginning to suffer,
but I dug deep and got another decent
result. Its home now, shower, food and
then bed.”
