| The last two nights practice
on Friday and Saturday were to turn out
less successful for Davy Morgan Racing
with machine breakdowns and dodgy track
conditions bringing practice week to a
dissappointing end.
The weather on Friday night was good
and Davy was looking to get another three
laps completed, on the CSC Branson 560cc
Honda, 1045cc Rick Abbott Kawasaki and
mannmade group 250cc Honda. Davy headed
off down Glencrutchery Road on the Senior
Classic Honda with hopes high, but again,
the bike broke down after Glen Helen and
to add more dissappointment to the evening
by the time he got back to the paddock
the session was over and so he could not
get out on the Abbott Kawasaki. He did
however get back to take the mannmade
Honda out in the second session and completed
a lap at 107.929mph, not on pace with
practice leader Sayle, but it is only
practice.
Saturday and the riders were greeted
to damp roads and a diesel spill so practice
was severly cut, which put even more pressure
on. The only priortity for Davy Morgan
Racing was to get a lap on the Post Classic
Abbott Kawasaki to get it qualified and
ready to race on Monday. With the head
gasket going earlier in the week everyone
was anxious as Davy headed off down Bray
Hill on his last opportunity to get the
business done in this class. Unfortunately
it was not to be when the clutch packed
up and it was a retirement at Ballacraine.
This was a real dissappointment for the
whole team and an unwanted premature end
to MGP practice.

Speaking on Sunday a dissappointed
Davy said, "Things had been going
pretty well during the middle of the week
with some reasonable times and compltede
laps, but things just went a bit off at
the end and more problems with the Senior
Classic and Post Classic machines. I am
really dissappointed for Rick (Abbott)
as he has put a lot of time, money and
effort into the Kawasaki, but with only
getting 10 miles completed on it we all
feel that it would not be right to race
it for safety reasons as i really do not
know how the bike will react, lets hope
i get another chance to see what it can
do. We can do no more now so its now just
fingers crossed for some dry weather and
some race finishes"
"Its now down to racing on Monday
and the Junior Classic and hopefully at
the very least a finish for Steve (Caffyn)
on the CSC Branson 350cc Honda, we
are eighth quickest in practice so hopefully
a leaderboard finish as well. Earlier
in the week it did not seem to be running
right, but Steve has traced the problem
back to a spark plug that has been detonated
to bits so it seems to be going better
now, we will find out tomorrow.
