The Blue Riband Senior TT was the final
race of the TT over six laps and Davy
was looking for another great result to
back up last weeks Superbike TT result
and help him get over the disappointment
of his retirement on the Supersport TT.
The race started bang on time and Davy
was up for it from the start on the Strangford
Holiday Park Suzuki.
On the opening lap he set a lap at 123.847mph
to be in 18th Place as he headed down
Bray Hill for the second time. By the
end of the second lap and the pit stop
he had upped his lap speed to 124.537mph
and had moved himself up to 14th place
on the leaderboard. Before he could leave
the pit lane the red-flag's were out and
the race stopped after an incident at
Glen Vine. As everyone waited to see what
would happen it was announced that the
race would be a complete re-run over four
laps.
The opening lap of the Senior TT re-start
was to be a real milestone in Davy's TT
career when he did his first 125mph lap
in 18 min 05.46 mph at 125.134mph. This
was good enough for him to move up to
14th place at the end of the lap and a
solid base to build on. Lap 2 and Davy's
lap was slightly slower as he had to slow
down when the yellow flags were out on
the Veranda and he clocked a speed of
124.198mph, but still good enough to move
him up to 12th place heading in to the
pit lane.
After a slow pit stop he was down to
fourteenth at Glen Helen on Lap 3, but
managed to claw the time back and was
up to 11th place as they headed out on
to the final lap. His final lap was another
fast one slightly slower than his earlier
but still at 125.132mph and this moved
him up to a superb 9th Place at the chequered
flag and the 1st Place in the Privateers
Championship and this despite finding
out afterwards that the sub-frame had
broken on the Strangford Holiday Park
Suzuki. So a good days work in the premier
race at the TT, a top ten finish in ninth,
first privateer home which was enough
to move him up to third in the overall
standings in the Privateers Championship
(just a pity he didn't finish at least
one Supersport TT) and his fastest ever
TT lap at an excellent 125.134mph.
A delighted Davy speaking shortly afterwards,
"I really enjoyed today and it
goes some way to making up for yesterdays
disappointment. To finish in the top ten
in the Senior TT and be the first Privateer
home is a brilliant result for myself
and the team and tops two weeks of really
hard work. To get my first 125mph lap
is a real bonus and its a pity i just
failed to get my first sub 18 minute lap,
but that will have to wait for another
day. We now have a lot of work to do before
Bush next weekend as we need to find the
electrical problem with the R6 and we
need to get the sub-frame of the Suzuki
welded."
"I want to thank everybody who
has helped and supported me over the past
two weeks, it had its usual highs and
lows and at least we finished on a high.
I want to thank all my sponsors for their
continued support, CSC Branson, Strangford
Holiday Park, my Supporters Club, 01RaceFX,
Arai Hemets, Quoile Fuels, United Asphalt,
Jet Plant, Inlay Ltd, Wenlock UK, SC Surfacing,
Inglewood and La-Mon House Hotels, EJ
Tractors, Rock Oil and NGK, you all help
keep me on track. I now hope i can carry
this form through the rest of the season
and give you all something to cheer about." |
