| Although having a few small
problems Davy Morgan Racing achieved what
they set out to do over the weekend with
the priority of getting ready for Cookstown.
There was plenty of time on the teams
two new bikes the Strangford Holiday Park
GSXR1000 Suzuki and CSC Branson R6 Yamaha,
both at Pembrey on Friday and Scarborough
on Sunday. There was also the added bonus
of getting the Davy Morgan #71 Supporters
Club 250cc Run-In. |

| There was plenty of laps done on Friday
at the test and Davy is really well pleased
with the Suzuki and now can't wait to
get it on the race track. There were a
few electrical issue's with the Yamaha,
which restricted the number of laps completed
and the team hope to resolve these quickly
and the Honda was well run-in after a
winter re-build and was going well.
It was then the long
trip to Scarborough for the Ian Watson
Spring Cup Meeting and more miles on all
three machines. Qualifying went well on
both the Strangford Holiday Park Suzuki
and 250CC Honda and Davy was happy with
how he was progressing on both and especially
the Suzuki. However just at the 600cc
session was about to start the R6 died
on the line and so no time was recorded
and a bit more investigation to find the
problem.
Racing started on the
CSC Branson R6 Yamaha with the Supersport
'B' Final, which Davy had to start from
the back of the grid because of his qualifying
problems. However this did not deter him
and with the electrical problem seemingly
solved he set off and stormed through
the field to claim the win by over ten
seconds, bur more significantly he got
a good feel and more miles on the machine.
He followed this up with a second place
on the 250cc Honda with victory in sight,
but then he chose the wrong way past a
slower rider and was pipped to the line.
The Ian Watson Trophy was next on the
Suzuki and Davy was forced to give it
a miss with arm pump. In the second 250cc
Race a dissappointing start, cost Davy
any chance of the win and he had to settle
for third place and his third podium of
the weekend. His final outing of the weekend
was the 2nd Leg of the Ian Watson Trophy
on the Strangford Holiday Park Suzuki,
but he was forced to pull in after one
lap with the arm pump problem again.

| Speaking on Monday morning a pleased Davy
said, "On the whole we achieved
what we wanted over the weekend, it was
all about getting time and set-up on the
Suzuki and Yamaha. The Suzuki is brilliant
and i am really pleased with it even though
i did not get to race it on Sunday. For
some reason Scarborough is the only place
a seem to get arm pump so i did not want
to take any risks holding on to the superbike.
The R6 Yamaha has give us a few headaches,
which we look to have resolved with the
run in the B Final, which was good for me
starting at the back and having to pass
a few people along the way. We will however
have to give her a good look over before
next weekend just to make sure. I enjoyed
the 250 races and again it is time on track
in a race enviroment to get me dialled in.
So i am really happy with both the new bikes
and i am now looking forward to getting
some decent results at Cookstown." |
