Superbike TT
On the Investasure Honda Fireblade Davy
headed off down Glencutchery Road at No.23
for the opening race of the TT, hoping
for a good result. After an opening lap
at 122.2mph he had moved himself into
19th and with another lap at just over
122mph on the second lap he was up to
15th as they came in to the stop box.
A slow pit stop saw him fall back to 19th
at the end of the third lap, but his fastest
lap of the race at a speed of 122.5mph
he was back up to 15th at the end of lap
four. With another slow pit stop at the
end of lap five he found himself in 16th.
On his final circuit a lap at 121.5mph
consolidated his position and he finished
a creditable 16th and gained a Bronze
Replica.
Superstock TT
The Blacks 1000cc Suzuki was the mount
for Davy’s next romp round the mountain
circuit. A lap at 118.4mph meant that
he found himself down in 25th place at
the end of lap one, his second lap at
118.6mph did move him up to 23rd as the
came in for the one and only pit stop
in the four lap race. A reasonable slick
stop moved him up to 22nd at the end of
the penultimate lap and a final lap, his
quickest of the race at 122.1mph moved
him in to 20th place at the chequered
flag and a second Bronze Replica.
Supersport TT’s
With the CSC Branson R6 Yamaha down on
power it was going to be a tough race
and Davy would need to ride the wheels
of the bike to get anywhere near the leader
board. With two races and a start number
of thirty one there was going to be a
lot of traffic to get through to get anywhere
near the leader board.
In the first Supersport Race his first
lap at 118.6mph moved him up to 17th after
the opening lap. Further laps at 119.1mph,
113.2mph including pit stop and a final
lap at 119.4mph saw him maintain 17th
place through out the four lap race and
claim a Silver Replica at the flag.
The second Supersport was to be even
better as an even hotter pace was set
by the leaders and Davy himself completed
the four laps twenty eight seconds quicker
than the opening race. His first lap at
119.1mph meant he was in 18th after the
opening 37 ¾ miles, a second lap
at 120.1mph moved him in to 15th at the
end of lap two and the all important pit
stops. Another good pit stop moved him
up to 14th as they crossed the line and
on to their final circuit. On that final
lap Davy managed his fastest lap of the
fortnight on the CSC Branson R6 at 120.3mph
and held on to his 14th place only fifteen
seconds of a top twelve finish and with
it claimed another Silver Replica.
Senior TT
The final race on the mountain circuit
was the Blue Riband Senior TT and Davy
was confident of bettering his 16th place
in the opening Superbike TT. Right from
the off he was quicker than before with
an opening lap at 122.9mph moving him
up to 16th place at the end of lap one,
an even quicker lap two at 123.5mph moved
him up to 15th. Pit stops and although
not a perfect one it was a lot better
that in the Superbike TT and at the end
of the third lap he was up to 14th and
only twelve seconds adrift of the top
twelve. However, on the mountain on lap
four it was to all; end in disappointment
when the Investasure Fireblade cried no
more and put a con-rod through the casing
throwing oil on to the back wheel and
giving Davy a big moment before retiring
when an excellent result was on the cards.
Lightweight TT
Davy’s TT adventure for 2008 was
to be completed at the 4.2 mile Billown
Circuit in the south of the island and
the Lightweight TT for 250cc machines.
On the Ballygowan RRSC Honda Davy was
hoping for a good result to complete his
TT. From the flag the front three were
gone and Davy was with Andrew Neill in
a battle for fourth. At around half distance
the Honda seemed to go off and he dropped
back from Neill in to a lonely fifth place.
Davy decided to back off completely to
try and bring her home, which he managed
to do in fifth place and claim another
Silver Replica in the process.
Speaking when he came home Davy commented,
“After the disasters of the
North West, the TT turned out not too
bad, I would have liked to be further
up the finishing order, but at least we
got home and five finishes from six starts
and five replica’s is not a bad
return for the teams hard work. It’s
just unfortunate that the blade packed
up on Friday and we could not get a bit
more speed from the R6 or it could have
been an even better fortnight”
