2008 News: Morgan joins CSC Branson Racing

Saintfield road racer Davy Morgan has teamed up with English Race Team CSC Branson Racing for the 2008 Season. With a full complement of competitive machinery and a bit of good fortune that has deserted him in the last two seasons, both parties are confident that this will return Davy to the top end of the leader board on the roads across the UK at both National and International level.

Former racer Steve Caffyn is Manager and Principle of CSC Branson Racing Team and is delighted to have Morgan on board and the rider is just as pleased with the set-up that he will have at his disposal for 2008. The team will provide the popular Ulsterman with two ‘08’ Honda Fireblades supplied by Paul Branson of top Honda Dealership “Branson Honda Yeovil”, one of these will be in Superbike spec and other in Superstock. There will also be a new ‘08’ R6 Yamaha in the stable and a back-up ‘07’ R6 Yamaha. Davy will be kept busy on race days as he also has a new 250cc Honda of his own, which he believes will be competitive with anything else on the roads and then last but not least is the Investasure Honda Fireblade that he rode last year, which has been given to Davy by long time sponsor Kevin and Angela Wood. All the bikes will be liveried in Silver, Red and Black colours, but despite all this change fans need not panic as the Pink helmet will remain.

Although having to buy a new van for all the transport of the bits and pieces during the season that is required for a road race team, Davy Morgan Racing still has the use of the excellent, well kitted Annadale Design & MacCleay Motor Engineers Race transporter again for 2008.

The CSC Branson Race Team is supported by sponsors Wainwrights Quarries, C H Contracting, Jet Plant Ltd and Podimore Recycling who join with Davy Morgan Racing sponsors BLRC (Belfast Land Rover Centre), Annadale Design, MacCleay Motor Engineers, Ballygowan & District Road Racing Supporters Club and Investasure Financial Services to provide their rider with the professional set-up that is required on today’s roads. There is also trade support from Xtreme Paintwork who are painting the bikes and helmets, The Vinyl Touch who do the graphics, NGK Spark Plugs and Dunlop Tyres.

Speaking exclusively to RealRoadRacing.com, Davy commented: “I am really excited about the season I have been spending a lot of time in the gym and playing squash and feel really fit. The shoulder injury is now fully recovered and I have lost weight although I need a couple more kilos off before the start of the season. As for my race set-up for 08, I am delighted and really looking forward to getting on the bikes. Steve (Caffyn) and I first worked together in earnest at the Manx last year and after a few phone calls the whole thing started to fall into place and at last weeks visit to the south of England for the 08 Fireblade launch we met the rest of the team and finalised a lot of the details, which will see me on very competitive machinery in all classes. I can concentrate more on riding as the machines will be prepared by the CSC Branson guys who will be at all the meetings we are taking in on our calendar”.

“I would like to thank Steve (Caffyn) and everyone involved at CSC Branson Racing for putting their faith in me to do the business for them, they have a lot of contacts and experience within the sport and have actually won a TT under the Chrysalis Racing banner a few years ago so I want to do the best I can for them. I want to thank all those sponsors who supported me last year through some difficult times and wish those who have moved on to other riders all the best for the future. Can I thank in advance my own sponsors who have stuck with me for the season ahead and I hope I can give them more to cheer in 2008. I still hope to have Kevin & Angela Wood involved in my 08 plans as they have been good to me as sponsors and friends, but have to meet up with them to confirm their intentions. So I hope and believe this team can return Davy Morgan to the form he showed in only glimpses over the past couple of years on a more consistent basis in 2008”.

More details will follow about the team at a later date at RealRoadRacing.com and on Davy’s Website soon to be launched for 2008.
