The
Steve Henshaw God Cup Races at Scarborough
was once again to be the final race of
the year for Davy Morgan. He enjoys his
annual trip to the holiday town in England,
although it has never been the kindest
place to him and with the affects of his
heavy fall at Bush back in June still
not 100% he was not expecting too much
to change.
It was to be a difficult weekend with
machine problems and the demands of the
circuit on the shoulder resulting in slow
times, low positions and retirements.
On the Saturday there was little to report
with retirement on the 250cc Ballygowan
Supporters Club Honda, on the Autotech
600cc Honda he had a twelfth place finish
in Heat 2 and a DNF in the 1st Leg Race.
The Superbike was not much better with
a ninth in Heat 1 on the Investasure Financial
Services Honda Fireblade and a non-start
in the 1st Leg Race.
Sunday was to be even shorter, after
finishing second by less than half a second
in the opening race of the day, the Superbike
B Final, he followed that up with a fourteenth
place in the main Superbike 2nd Leg Race.
The day finished when he was once again
was forced to retire from the 250cc Race
and he felt the shoulder could not take
anymore and did not start the 2nd Leg
of the 600’s and the feature Gold
Cup Event.
Speaking later Davy commented, “Looking
back it was probably a bad idea to go
when I was not fully fit, but I had made
a commitment to the organisers. The nature
of the circuit put a lot of pressure on
the shoulder and I found it difficult
to change direction quickly and the niggly
problems with the 250 just made the situation
worse.”
“It’s been a really difficult
season and I have never fully recovered
from the injuries received at Bush and
in road racing you need to be 100% to
compete. I would like to thank all my
sponsors for their continued support and
hope that I can repay them by getting
back to full fitness and putting in some
decent results in 2008”. |
