2007 Killalane: Four Starts, Four Top Tens

The final Irish Road Race of the year at Killalane was to be Davy Morgan’s penultimate race of the year and would see him back near the top of the leader board. With another months recovery on his injured shoulder he felt much more comfortable on the bikes than he has done since his return to the saddle at Kells in July.

The opening race was the Open Championship and Davy found himself in a scrap with Adrian McFarland and John Walsh for sixth place, McFarland eventually broke clear of the others and Davy managed to hold off Walsh by four tenths of a second and claim seventh place. It was then out on John McKeown's Autotech Honda in the Supersport Race and a lonely ride to ninth place.

There was disappointment in the Junior 250cc Race as Davy found himself well of the pace and a seventh place finish, when he was looking for a bit higher. The last race of the day was the Grand Final and with his fastest lap of the weekend he came home in eighth place to complete his best weekend for a while.

Speaking afterwards, “Its been a tiring weekend, I am feeling a bit stiff and sore now, but at least I got four finishes from four starts today, which is a first in a while and probably why I am tired. The shoulder is a lot better and I am probably up to about 90% at the moment. The only downer was the 250, I had hoped to be a bit higher, but I never really got going for some reason. We now have Scarborough to finish the year and then a lot of work over the winter to get the shoulder 100% for next year”.
