2007 Faugheen: Tough weekend at Faugheen

The long trip to Faugheen in Tipperary was next on the calendar for Davy Morgan Racing and despite still not being 100% fit the team headed off for a meeting that they really enjoy.

Practice was steady as the shoulder was still a bit sore and the tight and technical Carrick-on-Suir circuit was certainly highlighting this. So Davy decided it was not a place to ride the Investasure Fireblade Honda so rode the Autotech 600 Honda in the Open Class. He qualified in all classes although a lot further down than he would have liked, but at least it was more track time.

Saturday Race Day and it was the 250cc Championship Race first for Davy and a steady incident free run saw him finish a lonely sixth on the less powerful Ballygowan Honda. It was then the Open Championship Race and it was not to be just so easy as a race long battle with Maher, Dunlop and Davidson eventually saw him come home in twelfth and quite sore after a tight race. The 600cc Supersport was to see a below par Davy come home in a lonely, lowly sixteenth, feeling sore and uncomfortable after his earlier exertions. This was to be the last run of the day as the shoulder was now feeling weak so Davy decided to call it a day.

Speaking afterwards an uncomfortable Davy stated “Its been a long weekend, with the travelling and the nature of the circuit I am really feeling the shoulder. I enjoyed getting some track time, but the shoulder is just not strong enough yet to ride at 100%. I may give the Mid-Antrim a miss next week as it is a physical circuit and would put a lot of strain on the shoulder, but we will wait and see”.
