North
Monaghan Road Races was next on the calendar
for Davy, and it was five years since
he had raced here. Going equipped with
the Investasure Racing Honda Fireblade
and John McKeown's Autotech 600 Kawasaki,
he was looking to further build on his
confidence with a few decent results before
he headed to Dundrod for the Ulster Grand
Prix bike week. Once again for this race
meeting Davy was without the Ballygowan
& District Supporters Club 250 Honda
after the major engine failure at the
Southern 100.
Saturday practice saw Davy armed with
a bright yellow newcomers bib getting
himself reacquainted with the North Monaghan
circuit. With rain showers and damps roads
Davy got consistent laps in and whilst
qualifying for Sundays races, he was also
building up much needed confidence which
he has been lacking in recent race meetings.
Davy qualified in 13th and 14th on the
Investasure Racing Fireblade and Autotech
600 Kawasaki respectively.

Race day came and went without any
major things to report. It seen Davy compete
on both the 1000 and 600 bikes, which
he enjoyed and with some battles for position
it set a good building block for the UGP
which is next week. In the first Open
on the Investasure Racing Fireblade race
he finished 13th, following that in the
Grand final on the same bike with a 9th.
In the 600cc Race on the Autotech 600
Kawasaki he finished 11th.
Commenting on the weekend, Davy said;
"That's another road race over,
and even though I finished in the lower
leader board I had fun; and that's what
it is all about." He went onto say;
"I enjoyed the weekend, I got into
some good battles during racing and it
was so much fun, and I think that has
helped me start to build up the confidence,
which I've been lacking. I'm looking forward
to heading to Dundrod, and getting going
- but I'm disappointed that the wee bike
(250cc) will not be ready in time - but
we'll give it the best shot in the Superbike
and Supersport races”. |
