2006 Mid-Antrim: Hard Work, but More Miles

After a disastrous month for Davy Morgan Racing, the team were looking for a change of luck at the Mid-Antrim in County Antrim. The object of the meeting was to try and get time on the bikes and re-build dented confidence.

The Ballygowan 250cc Honda was still not ready as the replacement parts had still not arrived so again it would be just the Investasure Fireblade Honda and the Autotech Kawasaki to ride. Practice was solid and uneventful, so Davy managed to qualify in the top fifteen in both classes and most importantly began to feel more comfortable on the bikes although the speed of the Superbike was tough on the healing injuries over the bumps.

Conditions were good on Saturday as the Open Race came to the grid and after a steady start he had a race long duel with Liam Quinn and Adrian McFarland and eventually Davy came home in 12th place. In the Supersport Race he managed to get the Autotech Kawasaki up to 10th place at the flag. The final feature Mid-Antrim Superbike Race was to bring disappointment when the Investasure Honda struck problems resulting in retirement at the end of the opening lap.

Speaking after the meeting Davy commented; “It was hard work out there today, this circuit is very much a riders circuit and has to ridden and with the bumps and jumps there is no were to relax, so with my recent knocks I was feeling a bit sore by close of play. To get two top twelve finishes was okay as I got miles, it was just a bit disappointing that we had problems in the final race”.

“Its now on to North Monaghan and get more miles ahead of the Ulster were I hope to make a better showing after last year’s disaster. I am feeling better all the time as my injuries heal and my confidence builds so hopefully I will be 100% by the time we reach Dundrod”.
