| Kells was the
next stop for Davy and the Road Race circus,
a circuit once described as having three
straights, three corners and two jumps.
It’s a great weekend that all the
riders and spectators alike enjoy and
Davy was looking to improve on his Walderstown
performance. You need quick machinery,
very good brakes or extreme bravery to
achieve good results in this neck of the
woods.

Davy rode the wheels off
the Ballygowan RRSC 250 Honda in his first
outing of the day in the Street Sweep
2 Stroke Racing SC Race. He was down on
top speed to rivals Darren Burns and Barry
Davidson, but his riding ability kept
him in touch throughout, but in the end
he had to settle for the final step of
the podium less than one second behind
race winner Burns. The Investasure/John
Bell Yamaha was ridden to third place
in the Irish Championship 600cc Race,
but it was all to no avail as an exclusion
from the results followed for not letting
the bike be inspected after the race.
The frustration of the previous race
had to be put to the back of the mind
as the Touchwood Consulting Kawasaki was
brought to the line for the Open Race.
It was another step forward with a ninth
place finish and a fastest lap just 2.5
seconds down on the quickest lap of the
race. Davy’s last race on the day
was the Non-Championship 600 Race and
another solid top six finish was achieved
coming in fourth behind Farquhar, Martin
and Archibald, not bad company to be keeping. |

With mixed
feelings Davy commented later, “The
exclusion was a real spoiler, they wanted
to strip the bike after the race, but
I would not let them as I would not have
had enough time to put it back together
for the non-championship race. I offered
to let it be put on the dyno, but they
were adamant they wanted to strip it,
so that was that. The other results were
very pleasing and I suppose on the whole
it was a very good weekend with three
top six finishes, all be it with one taken
away and most importantly another step
forward with the Touchwood Consulting
Kawasaki.”
“We now lead the Overall and
July Mini Series of the Street Sweep 2
Stroke Racing Supporters Club Championships,
which would be really nice to win. The
July Mini Series finishes at Faugheen
so I will have to make the very long trip
to make my debut there and defend my position”
