| Davy Morgan had
a quick turnaround traveling straight
from the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man
to the Walderstown Road Races. The weather
was stunning over the weekend although
it was too warm for the road surface as
it began to break up on race day.

A disappointing fourth
place finish on the Ballygowan & District
Road Racing Supporters Club 250 Honda
was the first result of the day, when
it just did not happen for the Saintfield
rider and he had to be content with being
in the unusual position well adrift of
the leading three riders. The melting
tar was a real problem in the Open Race
as Davy found the Touchwood Consulting
ZX10 Kawasaki a real handful on the deteriorating
surface were there was a choice of riding
on melting tar or cement dust, this resulted
in a lowly thirteenth place finish. The
day was completed with a solid fifth place
on the Investasure/John Bell Yamaha in
the Irish Championship 600 Race behind
Farquhar, Britton, Stewart and Donnan.
Not his best day this season, but some
steady performances continues to enhance
his reputation as one of Irelands top
Privateer Road Racers and at the very
least he kept up the pressure at the top
of the table in the Street Sweep 2 Stroke
Racing Supporters Club Championship.
A very tired Davy said, “It
was a mad dash from the Southern to Walderstown
and we were probably not the best prepared
for the weekend. With the very warm day
causing the tar to melt it was not the
best conditions to race in, so we were
happy enough all things considered with
the 600 & 250 race results, but I
felt it was just a bit too dodgy to push
it on the Touchwood Kawasaki.” |
