| It
was the long trek to the east coast of
England to Scarborough and the Gold Cup
to finish of the road race season for
Davy Morgan Racing. The circuit is good
fun to ride although tight and twisty
and it is a good weekend to finish the
season.

Davy qualified seventh
quickest on the Strangford Holiday Park/BLRC
Honda and to qualify himself for the heats
of the Superbike and Supersport Races
he was seventeenth quickest on both the
CSC Branson R1 & R6 Yamaha’s.
On the R1 Yamaha he was happy just to
finish ninth in his Heat and get to the
main event with the shoulder he hurt at
Killalane giving him a few problems. In
his Supersport Heat he made an awful start
and as he tried to make up ground round
the outside at the hairpin he was pushed
right out to the grass and had to work
hard to finish eleventh and as he thought
good enough for a start in the main event.
However a clerical error by the organisers
meant that he would not be on the grid
for the 600 Races they said he had not
qualified, but they didn’t have
in the non-qualifiers race either, when
the team enquired about the situation
the organisers agreed he should have been
starting the main events on the 600, but
stated “As the grids had already
been allocated there was nothing they
could do”. Very frustrating.
Davy’s first race was on the BLRC/Strangford
Holiday Park 250cc Honda and he had a
good run to sixth place, he followed that
up in the second 250cc Race with an eighth
place finish after the clutch burnt out
on the line and to even get a finish was
an achievement never mind a top ten. With
no races on the CSC Branson R6 due to
the organisers error that just left the
CSC Branson R1 and both starts ended in
DNF’s as it was just too difficult
with shoulder injury to hold on to. He
decided not to go out in the Gold Cup
Race so that he did no further damage
to his shoulder and so brought to an end
his 2009 road race season. |

Speaking afterwards
Davy commented, “To round of
the season, it was an enjoyable weekend
despite some problems. My shoulder was
giving me some problems as they would
not give me an injection , which made
the big bike a real handful with all the
tight turns and heavy braking and not
getting a run on the 600 was really disappointing
as it was not even my fault. I enjoyed
the first run on the 250, but the second
was hard work after I lost the clutch”.
“I would like to thank the
guys who went with me to Scarborough and
I hope they enjoyed the weekend, George
(who shared the driving), Jim and Maurice.
Its been a long and difficult season with
some ups and a lot of downs and I want
to thank all my sponsors and supporters
who stuck with me, I hope they will remain
part of the team in 2010 and hopefully
together we will have a better year.”
